Listen to Aerosmith on iHeartRadio

Aerosmith is contributing to an ESPN special commemorating last April's Boston Marathon tragedy.

Frontmen Steven Tyler and Joe Perry recorded a new version of "Dream On" with the Southern California Children's Chorus for "E:60 Presents Dream On: Stories from Boston's Strongest."

Tyler tells ESPN the way "Dream On" addresses the concept of loss makes the song sound like it was written specifically for last year's tragic event, and not 40 years earlier.

Joe Perry adds that "Dream On" is one of those "rare songs" with lyrics that can be interpreted in many different ways and capture the feelings of a variety of experiences.

"E:60 Presents Dream On: Stories from Boston's Strongest" debuted on ABC on Saturday.  ESPN will rebroadcast the special Tuesday night.
