Listen to The Red Hot Chili Peppers on iHeartRadio

The Red Hot Chili Peppers aren't happy with the news that their music was supposedly used as so-called torture by the C.I.A.

Earlier this month Al Jazeera America reported that some of the band's songs were part of an "enhanced interrogation technique" in 2002.

Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith tells TMZ they obviously didn't approve that decision, and says he considers it a poor use of music.  He admits that some people might not like their music, but he says its positive and is supposed to make people feel good.  Smith calls the whole story "very upsetting," which bandmate Flea seconded on Twitter by calling it "absolutely heartbreaking."

The bassist adds that they plan to do anything they can to make sure it stops.
