Sologamy, Or Marrying Yourself, Is A Thing Now

There's a new solution for single folks tired of friends and family asking when they will find someone to settle down with - sologamy, the new trend where people marry themselves.

One 37-year-old New Yorker had a sologamy ceremony on the Brooklyn Bridge that was like any other wedding, only it was missing a future spouse.

She said of the movement, "I would describe it as women saying yes to themselves. It means that we are enough, even if we are not partnered with someone else."

The trend has become so popular that there are now companies that cater to sologamists. Canada's Marry Yourself consults with and photographs sologamists while IMarriedMe.com offers sologamy ceremony kits with a wedding ring and vows.

And if you meet a sologamist, don't worry - many are open to marrying another person. Also, self-marriage is not a legally binding union, which is good because a sologamist's divorce sounds messy.
