Teachers Give 'Most Likely to Not Pay Attention' Award To Middle School Student With ADHD

Two middle school teachers from Georgia will not be returning to the classroom in the fall after they gave a 'derogatory' award to a 14-year-old girl during an end of the year assembly. According to FoxDC, the teachers gave the girl a trophy for being the student who is 'most likely to not pay attention'. The girl has a good reason for not paying attention, she was diagnosed with ADHD.

The girl's mother, Nicole Edwards, was livid when she came home from school with the trophy. She said the award is "very derogatory".

“I feel like it was very derogatory, I feel like it was humiliating and this was held as an assembly with the school”

The school district told FoxDC, that the teachers who decided to give the award to the 8th grader will not be coming back. Edwards said the school "needs to investigate and make sure it never happens to another student again."
