Comerica Park Employee Spotted Spitting on Pizza Fired and Arrested

employee caught spitting in pizza at Comerica park in Detroit

And to think, some people believe pineapple is the worst topping you can add to pizza.

Video of an employee at Detroit's Comerica Park appearing to spit into a customer's pizza went viral on Instagram over the weekend with the man seen in the video being arrested by police according to WXYZ.

Jaylon Kerley, was identied as the man who can be seen leaning over and spitting onto the uncooked dough, and then rubbing sauce on it.

Quinelle May, the person who posted the video to Instagram, wrote that when he went to report his co-worker for the spit-take pizza, he went looking for a manager to report the incident and was fired for 'not working' after posting the video.

I was sent home early today because I didn’t have on my Comerica Park shirt and they say I was at the bathroom for too long. So they yelled at me and told me to go home. But since they made me go home early I couldn’t wait until after the game to tell them an employee was spitting in customer pizzas!!!

He added that Kerley had allegedly spit into the pizza because "the supervisor there kept yelling at him" that day and that the employee had claimed to have spit into people's pizzas in the past.

The customers don’t deserve this!! This is disgusting! And for the company to threaten me and let me go for exposing this video to the fans is also disgusting!!😡

A spokesperson for Comerica Park said the incident took place on Friday during a game between the Detroit Tigers and the Kansas City Royals.

The company that provides food and beverage concessions at the ballpark, Detroit Sportservice, wrote a statement confirming that the pizza stand was closed and that "all the product" had been disposed of after the company learned about the video saying that food safety was their "top priority" and that they will "take any appropriate action necessary to protect our guests."

"As soon as we became aware through social media of potential food tampering, we immediately closed that food stand, disposed of all the product and contacted the Detroit Police Department. We have been told by police that the worker has been arrested and is in custody, pending charges," Detroit Sportservice wrote.
