Georgia Cops Find Drugs Resembling Candy Cartoon Characters

Police in Georgia made a major drug bust and are warning parents to be on the lookout for drug-laced candies that resemble popular cartoon characters. The Hapeville Police Department made the shocking discovery after responding to a car accident. When officers arrived, the suspect started to flee on foot, despite being injured.

The suspect left behind a bag which contained "two firearms (one stolen), cash, suspected marijuana, pills, cannabis pops, and suspected powder cocaine." Officials said that the "pills and lollipops are designed to look like candy." A photo of the confiscated drugs shows the multi-colored candies shaped like Homer Simpson, Hello Kitty and the Minions from Despicable Me.

"Our concern is these pills look like candy," department officials told USA TODAY. "Small children might ingest these items mistaking them for candy. Teens may see these drugs as less of a danger based on their looks."

Authorities have not released the name of the suspect but said he has been charged with leaving the scene of an accident with injuries, possession of a stolen gun, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of cocaine, and possession of drugs with intent to distribute.
