Amazon is reportedly reconsidering plans to build its new headquarters in New York City. The Washington Post spoke with two people who are "familiar with the company's thinking" who said that top executives met to reassess their decision following backlash from local residents and politicians.

“The question is whether it’s worth it if the politicians in New York don’t want the project, especially with how people in Virginia and Nashville have been so welcoming,” said one of the sources, who only agreed to speak on the condition of anonymity.

New York Governor Andrew Cuomo and New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio hailed the deal, saying it would bring tens of thousands of jobs to New York. Not everybody was happy with it though because the deal offered $1.525 billion in tax incentives while promising to create high-paying jobs that would leave many working class people behind.

Amazon has not purchased or leased any property for the new headquarters and New York officials are not expected to give final approval of the deal until 2020, giving Amazon more than enough time to find another city for their headquarters.
