BREAKING: Gov Cooper Announces NC is Moving into Phase 2, But with Changes

In a 5pm press conference, Gov Roy Cooper gave some good news to North Carolinians about moving into Phase 2 of the reopening plans.

Dr. Mandy Cohen opened with some words of warning, the plan is a bit limited compared to what Phase 2 was supposed to include based on current trends.

While the stay at home order is being lifted, there are some changes such as bars and gyms not being allowed to open in this phase.

The biggest news is that restaurants and salons will be able to open, while following requirements such as 50% capacity and social distancing.

Important news for the Memorial Day weekend approaching, pools will also be allowed to open.

The mass gathering limits in Phase 2 will be no more than 10 people indoors or 25 people outdoors. This applies to event venues; conference centers; stadiums and sports arenas; amphitheaters; and groups at parks or beaches.

Gov. Cooper went on to say that Phase 2 will help us to boost our local economy.

The NEW phase 2 plan is being called "Safer At Home".

The trajectory of positive cases was given as the reason for this revised version of the plan.
