Iconic Raleigh Restaurant Closes Its Doors After 30 Years

An iconic restaurant in Raleigh is closing its doors after more than 30 years in business. Snoopy's Hot Dogs & More announced on Monday (March 1) that it has permanently closed its Hillsborough Street location. The restaurant will continue operating at its other locations around Raleigh, WRAL reports.

Snoopy's took to social media on Monday, thanking their customers for visiting them over the last three decades at the Glenwood Avenue spot.

"Opening in 1990, it was one of the first businesses to signal the coming revitalization of downtown," the restaurant said in a statement on Facebook. "In addition to the regular daytime lunch and dinner times, our later expanded late-night hours made Snoopy's a part of the Glenwood South experience."

The pandemic hit the restaurant industry hard, and Snoopy's was no exception. After being approached throughout the years about selling, they said they have ultimately agreed.

"Over the last few years, we have been approached by developers to sell our little corner, and now, we finally have," the post continued. "We cherish the memories of Christmas parades and other fun times but feel that it is time for a change and to maybe focus our attention in other areas."

According to the post, all employees at the Hillsborough Street spot have been offered employment at the restaurant's other locations around town.
