Bill Ahern, CEO Habitat For Humanity

Bill joined Habitat Wake as CEO in August 2019. He has a long history of working with Habitat organizations across the country: he served on the boards of the Charlotte Mecklenburg Housing Partnership and on the boards of Habitat affiliates in Union County, North Carolina and Sarasota County, Florida. Bill majored in Economics at the University of Maryland Baltimore County and spent much of his early career in Information Technology, serving in a variety of management positions. He eventually found his way to the Federal Reserve Bank, where he stayed for 27 years. During his tenure he served in senior management and was responsible for a variety of operational and support service areas. After retiring from the Fed, Bill and his wife, Beth, bought and managed their own retail business in Venice, Florida. Bill was a successful baseball player at UMBC: he earned All-American honors and was inducted into UMBC's Athletic Hall of Fame. He even appeared in Major League 2 as a designated hitter, hanging out with the likes of Charlie Sheen and Corbin Bernsen. Bill and Beth have three grown children who live in Florida and North Carolina and like to think of themselves as empty nesters, even though their home is always filled with their children and granddogs.
