According to the latest update from the National Hurricane Center, Florence has slowed severely - it's now moving at just 6 mph to the W. At 2 p.m., the NHC said the storm was sitting about 20 miles southwest of Wilmington, N.C., and about 55 miles east-northeast of Myrtle Beach, S.C.
WHERE IS THE STORM HEADED?
Florence will remain close to the Wilmington coast today as it slows to a crawl while sitting over land. This slow motion is bad for the coast because it increases the amount of time felt by storm surge, powerful wind and heaviest rain. It will westward slowly through Saturday, Sunday and Monday. Here's the latest track from the NHC.
