Florence's Winds Weaken, Major Flooding Threat Looms

The Piedmont Will Deal With Wind Today, and Flooding Rain Saturday and Sunday

Florence is hitting North Carolina hard right now at the coast. Hurricane Florence's rain bands and tropical storm-force winds are starting to hit North Carolina's outer banks and closing in on Wilmington.

According to the National Hurricane Center's 5 am storm update, Florence still poses a serious risk to the coastline of the Carolinas with high storm surge and tens of inches of rain.

In the Piedmont, we aren't expected to see anything like hurricane-force winds, but tropical storm force winds are possible and flooding rainfall is expected into the weekend.
