Mom Tells Kids To Remove Seat Belts Before Intentionally Crashing Car: Cops

A Florida mother is accused of trying to kill her four kids by intentionally crashing her minivan into a tree. 36-year-old Calicia Williams reportedly told her kids to unbuckle their seatbelts before she swerved across a grass median and drove directly into a palm tree.

Miraculously, all four children, who are between seven and 13 years old, survived the crash. They were rushed to a local hospital and are in stable condition.

After Williams hit the tree, she told her kids, "The devil can't hurt you, he only hurts bad people. You have the light of Jesus in you, and only Jesus can cure us."

She told responding officers that she was "being followed by a lot of people in cars and she was trying to read all their tag numbers," and wasn't paying attention when she hit the tree. She claimed that her husband put a hex on her and "kept rambling on about spells and voodoo."

Williams is facing four counts of attempted murder and will be taken to jail once she is released from the hospital.

"It makes you want to hold your kids tight, and it's unfathomable why a mother would want to do this," Corie Byrd, with the Ocala Police Department said. "Hopefully, this mother gets the help that she needs, and the kids get the help that they need."
