Chainsaw-Wielding Man Arrested For Inciting Terror At North Carolina Hotel

Police in North Carolina arrested a man over the weekend who they said was "inciting terror" by threatening guests at a Raleigh hotel with a chainsaw Saturday night (March 20). Officers responded to a disturbance call shortly after 9 p.m. at the Red Roof Inn in the 2500 block of South Saunders Street following reports of a man using a chainsaw to "menace" a victim, police said.

According to WRAL, the chainsaw-wielding man threatened several people at the hotel before eventually leaving the scene in a dark-colored vehicle. No was was hurt during the incident. Nearby Garner Police told the news outlet that a Lowe's Home Improvement store had been broken into and a chainsaw had been stolen.

On Sunday morning, Raleigh police asked for the public's assistance in identifying the man wanted for attempted kidnapping, aggravated assault, and damage to property. Hours later, authorities announced that a man had been arrested in connection with the incident, 27-year-old Jacob Vanderburg.

Vanderburg is now facing several charges, including second degree kidnapping, assault with a deadly weapon, going armed to the terror of the public, injury to real and personal property, larceny of a firearm, and disorderly conduct. As of Monday morning, he was being held on a $270,000 bond.
